Late January - Jump or not

I think I saw my first person to jump the turnstile today. And they didn't even have to jump. They were tall enough to simply step over the turnstile without too much effort at all. And all I could think was interesting. Not positive whether they tapped their card or not - they had just come from the pay stations. So not sure if they went to go through the turnstile or completely were abject to paying the fare. Or they didn't have the money to pay the fare and decided to chance it. Whatever the reason, it was the first time I thought I had seen it happen in person in any public transport I had taken in any city.

Beginnings

In January, I started a new job and the Metro Red Line became my primary form of transportation in Los Angeles.  It was cheaper than driving and parking at the office, and since my car wasn't essential for my job, it was an easy decision to make.  And healthier one as I am now walking more than I was last year.  And since I had been primarily driving to my old job (an hour each way or more!), I was excited for the opportunity of at least 25 minutes of uninterrupted time to primarily write. Since the Red Line is completely underground, I don't get any service and thus my phone is basically in airplane mode. As I begin to transpose this 5 months later, I can honestly say that I haven't used all the time as efficiently as I desired, but still have accomplished more in writing than I did last year when I drove every day. This blog is more of a journal of things I found of interest on the Red Line or on the way to or from it. Will do my best to keep it chronological order, but can't guarantee all the dates are correct. Hope you enjoy!
